About the Gala
Every year, SDC hosts a gala to celebrate the year’s achievements, fundraise for our various initiatives, provide a stage for children with disabilities to showcase their incredible talents, and to inspire. According to SDC’s founder and president David Wang, “The Once Upon a Shine Gala works towards creating a vision of a larger puzzle that incorporates all members of society, and not just those that fit into an outdated mold.”
On November 6th, 2021, SDC held the 2021 Concord Pacific Once Upon a Shine Gala Presented by Baker West at Westin Bayshore. This gala was extra special because it was one of the first main events that SDC has hosted after spending the past year in isolation due to COVID-19. This event was filled with inspirational speeches, fundraisers for our programs, and performances from our very own program participants. We all engaged in a meaningful discussion about what we have done so far for the children in our local community, as well as what our goals are going forwards. It was truly a magical evening filled with happiness, inspiration, hope, and laughters. Take a peak at some of the highlights of the event through the video below!
