About the Once Upon a Shine Gala
Every year, SDC hosts a gala to celebrate the year’s achievements, fundraise for our various initiatives, provide a stage for children with disabilities to showcase their incredible talents, and to inspire. According to SDC founder and president David Wang, “The Once Upon a Shine Gala works towards creating a vision of a larger puzzle that incorporates all members of society, and not just those that fit into an outdated mold.” On January 4th, 2020, we witnessed a wonder beyond our wildest dreams: a collective desire to empower children with disabilities, which raised over $200 000 to piece together Wang’s vision of an all-inclusive society.
