Empowering Families Through Fitness and Connection

This fall semester, SDC introduced the Family Fitness Program, an inspiring and brand new program aimed at bringing families together through exercise. Designed to empower participants and their families, this program encouraged participants and parents to bond while building healthy habits that promote long-term well-being.

Warming up together to get ready for a great class.

This unique program created a special opportunity for families to spend quality time together, outside of their usual daily routines. By engaging in fitness as a team, participants were able to strengthen their bonds, supporting and motivating each other throughout the sessions. This experience not only nurtured their relationships but also encouraged families to celebrate milestones together, fostering a shared sense of achievement. Families and participants walked away with tools to lead healthier lifestyles, creating a ripple effect that strengthened family connections beyond the gym.

In addition to family bonding, the program provided a platform for participants to build meaningful friendships and a sense of community. Participants had the opportunity to interact with peers attending the class with their parents, creating shared experiences and forming lasting connections. These interactions helped develop teamwork skills, build friendships, and provide a greater sense of belonging in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Led by a certified fitness trainer, the Family Fitness Program was designed to promote physical activity, confidence, and a positive mindset. Its success was evident in the enthusiasm of families who joined, inspiring SDC to expand the program for the upcoming winter semester. New sessions will be offered in additional cities, including Richmond, alongside other programs aimed at empowering families and participants.

About Social Diversity for Children Foundation

In 2010, David Wang founded Social Diversity for Children Foundation (SDC) with a singular mission: empowering youth to empower children with special needs. Driven by a deep sense of love and compassion, David set out to create a space where children with special needs could feel supported, safe, and accepted—a place they could call their "second home."

David’s vision took shape through a variety of social programs that tapped into creative, academic, and emotional development. From art and music to math and drama, these programs were designed to engage children in ways that not only fostered learning but also built lasting friendships and confidence.

“From small beginnings, SDC has grown into a community where every child, regardless of their ability, can find a place to shine,” says David, reflecting on the Foundation’s journey.

Over the years, David's dedication drew attention and support from around the world, growing SDC into a global movement. His passion has brought communities together, offering resources and opportunities to children with special needs, while inspiring youth to lead with compassion. By expanding SDC’s reach, David has ensured that the Foundation can meet the evolving needs of the community, aiming to cultivate a culture of inclusivity, enthusiasm, and understanding.

Through his leadership, David has demonstrated how one individual’s passion can mobilize global efforts, bringing together diverse voices in pursuit of a shared goal: to create a more compassionate and inclusive society for all.
