How are you keeping your child stimulated during COVID-19?
Without our children in school, parents and families are responding to the continued need to keep their kids engaged and socially healthy.
Research shows that music therapy has a strong emotional effect on children with special needs. Music is a non-verbal language that is used to connect people universally. Engaging your child in music contributes to their personal development and encourages social interaction. Like art, music is an avenue for healthy expression of feelings and emotions.
In light of recent world events, SDC is modifying our programs in effort to reach our students in a safe, social & fun way. We are proud to announce we will be offering our Building Bridges with Music program ONLINE for our spring semester.
Building Bridges with Music is a music therapy program that allows atypical children to communicate and play through music, instruments and song.
Starting May 14 2020, we will be offering online music sessions guided by an experienced music instructor. The class will run from 5:00-6:00pm (PST) on Tuesdays and Thursdays and it is FREE to sign-up! All you have to do is email info@socialdiversity.org and we will begin your application!
Music has an undisputed therapeutic effect, especially on children with disabilities. At SDC, we want to make sure every child - regardless of ability and socioeconomic status - has the opportunity to access extra-curricular activities during this very difficult time. If you have a child who could benefit from this program, or know of a family who would enjoy this experience, please do not hesitate to reach out to us!
